This discussion is being opened in order to allow RRC homeowners the freedom to express their views on the recent speed limit change that has occurred in our neighborhood. Nasty notes referring to other RRC homeowners will be removed as soon as they've been seen, so please keep it civilized. This forum will provide RRC residents a way to express their views without interrupting, via e-mail, those who do not wish to participate in this discussion. The board has taken a neutral position on the issue since there are homeowners on both sides of the issue. This is merely intended to facilitate the discussion by our residents.

Speed Limit Issue

Dear Neighbors,
Can anyone explain why there is opposition by some to the newly lowered speed limit? In our opinion, the 25mph limit on Rocky River Crossing Road is a positive improvement and safety asset for the whole community and all it's residents. First, it seems that the lower speed is appropriate considering the speed limit on Roberta & Moorehead is 35mph, both of which are main thoroughfares. It appears only fitting that RRC Road (being the internal access road to our homes) not have the same speed limits as the main routes. Even more importantly, we think that the lower speed limit in our community means that our CHILDREN, PEDESTRIANS, CYCLISTS & PETS WILL BE SAFER. In this community with many homes, and a large number of young families, there are kids walking, playing and bicycling on the sidewalks and in the streets everyday. There are also a large number of folks (adults and children) who consistently walk, run and cycle up and down this road. With lower car speeds, reaction times and braking times are shorter. If the lowered speed limit were to save even one injury (or potentially life), isn't it worth it? Does anyone else share these thoughts? If so, please respond on this message board. We just desire to know if anyone else in the community thinks similarly. Thanks for your input and have a fun, safe summer!

Second that motion

I believe that the 25 mph change is a good thing and don't understand the need for speed through our small town neighborhood. However, I also feel that the amount of cars that are parked along the streets pose a far greater threat. Small children on bikes can dart out from behind a parked car faster than you can shake a stick. Is anyone going to do anything about that? This is especially the case for the homes that brought up the speed issue in the first place. I don't think I've ever come in through the back entrance and seen it clear of cars along side the road.

Stop signs

I'm all for the 25 mph speed limit, but please get rid of all the stop signs. I don't feel we need both a low speed limit and a stop sign every 100 yards.
