A number of high profile cases have hit the news, as of late, raising concerns about just how safe our children really are. Are there predators driving through our neighborhood? Do we have any ?‘sex offenders?’ living in our neighborhood? Do we have reason for concern for our children?’s safety? And. should we be taking precautions?
Sadly, the answer to all four questions is, YES! Our neighborhood is no more or less safe than any other here in the valley. What you can do is arm yourself with information. The State of Arizona, Dept. of Public Safety, has a web-site (azsexoffenders.org) which will allow you to check on the following:
* How many ?‘registered sex offenders?’ are living in or near my neighborhood?
* What are their names?
* Where do they live?
* What do they look like?
* What type of offense did they commit?
* What rights do I have?
We have every right to be Concerned, but not to the state of Alarm or Panic. While our Police and Schools are fully aware or their presence and do the best they can, that doesn?’t relieve us from the serious Responsibility to ?‘Remain Alert?’ to any strangers in our neighborhood. If their behavior or actions seem suspicious to you pick up the phone and Call Crime Stop, at (602) 262-6151 ?— period. If their activity is around or-near children Call 9-1-1...☺
