You?’ve seen the signs.
They?’re mounted on utility poles announcing weight loss services or garage sales; they?’re on sidewalks advertising easy credit card memberships; they?’re on the shoulder of the road noting a new business, apartment complex or housing development.
All of these signs are very common and very illegal.
The City of Phoenix ?“signs in the right-of-way ordinance?” includes fines of up to $2,500 per violation for anyone who posts a sign illegally or benefits from such a sign.
Signs in the right-of-way are not only an eyesore, but they could be dangerous if they were to come loose and fall into the street or if they were to block the view of motorists or pedestrians. Plus, signs nailed or stapled to the poles could cause injury to utility workers.
