Neighborhood Litter Dist 8

Jul 21, 2003

We?’ve all driven through neighborhoods and seen junk or litter on lawns or vacant houses scrawled with graffiti. If you?’ve got blight ruining your neighborhood, you don?’t have to put up with it and the city of Phoenix is ready to assist you.

District 8 recently held a neighborhood cleanup with hundreds of volunteers who cleaned up trash, weeds, debris, tires and abandoned appliances. This isn?’t the only help out there. Inspectors are ready to check up on sites or buildings that are not up to proper neighborhood codes. These inspectors, however, rely on you ?— the resident ?—to help report these sites.

The most common residential code violations reported by residents are:

* Vegetation
* Outside storage
* Inoperable Cars
* Fences in disrepair
* Junk, litter and debris
* Parking
* Open and vacant buildings
* Graffiti and structures

If you see these and other types of conditions plaguing your area, call 602-262-7844. The city also can provide neighborhood associations landscape and/or painting tools free of charge. So give a call and reclaim the nice neighborhood you and your family deserve!

Michael Johnson is a Phoenix City Councilmember who represents District 8. His office can be reached at 602-262-7493 or at michael.johnson@phoenix.gov via e-mail. . . ☻
