Although it?’s been several months since we?’ve had a rainstorm it?’s still important to protect the environment. Every day, hundreds of Phoenix residents dump pool water, motor oil, weed killer and more into the storm drain system (streets, washes and catch basins), where it will be washed into the river or a park during the next storm.
The city?’s Street Transportation Department inspects storm drain pipes, searches for illegal connections, inspects businesses, investigates dumping complaints and educates people about pollution prevention to protect storm water runoff. Call the department if you need information or see anyone dumping anything into the street, a wash or on the ground. Call (602) 256-3190 for assistance in English or (602) 495-0334 for help in Spanish. . . ☻
