“www.Google.com” ...By CAO Karen Freund

Jul 07, 2003

The following information was just recently brought to my attention and I thought it was important enough to pass on to you. I?’ve used ?“www.google.com?” to search for a number of things but did not realize just how much information was available.

Your phone number (including area code) can be entered into the search field and, if your number is listed, it will show your name and address and will give you two map options in order to retrieve a map to your home telephone number from their database. To use this you will first need to enter your phone number (including the area code) into the search field. If the number appears in the mapping database, an icon resembling a telephone will appear next to the first or second entry on the results page. Clicking on this icon will take you to a page contain?ing a description of the service and a link to request your number be re?moved from the database.

Google has made available an option that will allow you to REMOVE you. With the number of children having access to a computer, and with the way they randomly and naively hand out their (YOUR) phone number, it might be a good idea to take some simple precautions and check to see if you are listed in their database...☺
