DID YOU KNOW THAT MOST STOLEN VEHICLES OCCUR BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 1:00 AM AND 5:00 AM?
The Phoenix Police Department has received a grant to promote the Watch Your Car?” program. The ?“Watch Your Car?” program is a vehicle registration and identification program that helps law enforcement officers identify possible stolen vehicles between the peak vehicle theft hours of 1:00 am and 5:00 a.m. When owners register their vehicles in the ?“Watch Your Car?” program, the owner is basically telling law enforcement that their vehicle should not be on the road during the program hours (1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.). This signed agreement gives officers ?“permission?” to stop the vehicle and investigate it as a possible unreported stolen, and verify ownership.
I bet you?’re asking yourself how this program works? Well, it?’s easy. All you need to do is register your vehicle. Once you register your vehicle, you will receive a sticker which you place in the rear window of your car. You can pick up a registration form at the precinct or you may call your Community Action Officer and she will send you one in the mail.
