Speeders on Demery Blvd

Posted in: Brunswick Place
We are relative newcomers to the subdivision having only been on Demery since last summer, so I don't know if this issue has been brought up before.

There seems to be a slight problem with some people really screaming into the neighborhood around that curve right before the Demery/Gardere intersection and also down Demery itself, and probably Gardere too. Just since we've been here we've already seen two street signs damaged and one yard that have been damaged by vehicles. Has there been any thought to perhaps putting speed bumps anywhere on any of the neighborhood streets?
.

We moved from University and the speed bumps there just caused speeders to go faster. The perception is that the faster you go, the less of a ''bump'' you get from the speed bump. From my experience, speed bumps don't work.
Street signs perhaps?

That may be true but regardless, something is going to need to be done about it. My wife and I aren't one of those types who complain just to be complaining. I think this is a real issue, especially the # of small children we usually see playing around the neighborhood, especially so in the late afternoon/early evening hours (and someday when my children get old enough that may be THEM).

Our house is somewhat near the entrance and I've almost been re-ended several times because soon after I come through the intersection I turn into my driveway while some idiot who isn't paying attention is riding my bumper.

I don't think we would have to go so Draconian as video surveillance or recording license plate #s etc, but perhaps just a couple of simple signs such as ''Slow'' or ''Childen at play'' might be enough to help. We could complain to the Shreveport PD but as soon as they stop monitoring the streets, things will just return to normal again.

Overall I don't think that the problem here is any worse here than any other neighborhood but that doesn't mean we should ignore it.

Ideas?

Speeding in Brunswick

I am also concerned about the speeding in the neighborhood. I am observing some of the same vehicles over and over again that seem to always be in a hurry. I am not sure if speed bumps are the answer. What does everyone else think? If you do observe habitual speeders I suggest you get their license plate number and call the Shreveport police. Also, if you see someone hit the direction/stop signs please call or email me so that we can have these people pay for the damage.
