Our neighbors in the New Era Park area are planning an organizational meeting on Saturday 4/24/99 10 to noon. Those of you who have an interest in the area are invited to attend. The "grapevine" fears that the primary motivation to organize is to remove the closures. I hope that is not so, but if it is, I will be there to voice my opposition to any plan that does not effectively address significantly reducing traffic volumes through our midtown streets...all of them. I hope that you can join me.l

As a property owner and a long time resident in the NEPNA area, I attended last Saturday's organizational meeting for NEPNA. Though I unavoidably missed the first hour, I was delighted to see the quality of thought and energy that went into the structural development. I am hopeful that we will have some very thoughtful and energetic advocates for Midtown interests.

Neighborhood associations are about neighborhood addressing issues (street lights, land use, traffic, crime , code enforcement city services. It would be dishonest to bring New Era back to life for no other reason than to get half street closures removed?—if that's the purpose. If it is, the effort will fail on two counts: Nww Era will not be re-activated and the half street closures will stay. those seeking removal would get farther by being up front about it.
