Grand Prix Entertainment Tips

Here comes the best party weekend of the year. I have been trying to put-on a good party for four years during which I have come-up with a few ideas you might be able to benefit from.

Parking: There is a three level free parking structure at the intersection of Willow and Long Beach Blvd at the Willow Street Blue Line station. I am going to suggest that some of my guest park there and catch the Blue Line down to 1st Street (which puts them a four block walk away from the Ocean Blvd entrance). It's only $2.70 round trip and their car is in what I would consider a reasonably secure (shaded) lot.

Live TV Commentary: ESPN is going to broadcast the race tape-delayed starting at 2pm on Sunday, but in order for all their cameramen to follow the commentary, they broadcast the audio live over a radio frequency. For about $60 you can buy a Track scanner which would pickup this frequency and driver/pit conversation. This year I intend to hook the scanner to my stereo and broadcast the live race commentary within my apartment.

Spotter's Guide: There is a great document on the Web at www.champcar.com
(click on Spotter's Guide). I am going to print several copies as reference for my guests.
