I missed the meeting on the traffic calming...were there any other ideas that will be voted on besides keeping the Canterbury road 1/2 closure?

I live on Southgate and KNOW that the closure has helped.....I would be in favor of keeping it and doing even more. Vote yes

Other ideas

Two ideas were presented.
1. Create a short, one way road from the on ramp for 160 to Edgewater. It would be one way into Woodlake.
2. Create a road through the Canterbury Inn parking lot that goes to Oxford. This too would be one way.

It seems to me that the first idea is more do-able.
Traffic Counts

Much to the suprise of everyone, the traffic counts went down on ALL steets in Woodlake except for Baxter, and Globe and Royal Oaks.
The feared increase in traffic on Southgate did NOT materialize.

Voted Down

Traffic Closure Voted Down
The Traffic Calming Committee met Thursday, Oct 26 and heard the results of the voting.

FYI
Ballots sent out by the City: 475
Residents voting: 238
Residents voting for making the half street closure permanent: 109
Residents voting to remove the half street closure: 129

Marty Hanneman said he would submit the work order to have the half street closure removed, Friday, Oct 27th.

Be aware the SPD will ticket anyone going around it until it is removed, estimated to be some time next week.

Marty also announced there is a new type of speed bump that has flat spots spaced the correct distance apart for emergency vehicles. This may be considered at future meetings for use in Woodlake.

There are several members on the TCC that feel over two years working on the issue is enough and have decided to contribute to the community in other ways. There were nine people at the meeting last month that expressed a desire to be placed on the TCC. Marty said the selection of new TCC membership would be based on geographic location and gender in order to keep a similar neighborhood representation. The newly constituted TCC would meet after elections, possibly on Nov 30th.
