AVOID CODE COMPLIANCE VIOLATIONS

Jan 31, 2001

Code Compliance will be doing a sweep of the neighborhood soon. To stay within code and to help keep our neighborhood nice, here are some hints:
1. Do not block the sidewalks. Sidewalks should be totally free from cars, boats, trailers, basketball hoops, plants, and debris, even when the sidewalk crosses your driveway. There have been complaints of brush put out when there is not a brush pickup planned soon, and that limbs are blocking the sidewalks. Vehicles or other things should not be blocking the sidewalk. Keep plants and trees trimmed around the sidewalk so that children and adults will be safe when using the sidewalks.
2. Tree limbs hanging above the roads should be no lower than 14 feet above the surface be it street, sidewalk, alley and easement.
3. . Also keep all trees neat and trimmed, especially when they might hand into your neighbor's yard. Front and back yards should not have grass or weeds above 12 inches. . All of us are responsible for keeping our property clear of trash, debris, and weeds.
4. Alleyways should be clear of weeds and kept trimmed. Remember to keep this area free of debris and bring in your trashcans.
5. Junk cars are prohibited.
6. Keep your back yard as well as your front yard neat and clean.
7. Maintain the area between the sidewalk and the street.
8. Keep the area in front of your curb clean.
9. Parking on the grass is not allowed.
10. Street numbers need to be visible to the road (most helpful to emergency vehicles).
11. The Noise Ordinance regulates the allowable noise level according to zoning districts & time of day. Be considerate of your neighbors.
12. A permit must be obtained and displayed at all garage sale activities.
13. No more than five dogs & three cats may be kept in a residential district. Don't forget to keep your animal on a leash & collect & dispose properly of any droppings.
14. Trailers and such should not be left on the street. They block resident's views of the road and is a safety hazard.
15. Commercial vehicles should not be parked in the subdivision.

We could use some help with the code compliance committee. You can anonymously report a violation to the city by calling 207-7230.
