Does Woodlawn Park own the wall at the end of the street on Westport Terrace? I am referring to the one that allows access to the rear of the Kroger Shopping Center. Lately the wall has been the subject of some lewd graffiti that smacks of gang activity. There are references to violence, drugs, and cop killing. Is anyone else concerned about this?

You might want to reference the Sept. 8, 2006 posting ''Recent Vandalism.'' It has some pertinent numbers and info. for you. I've done some checking with the police. I was told I would actually have to see a crime being committed.

It's interesting that this has come around almost exactly one year later. Maybe a last blast before school started? Sad commentary really.


I'd be interested to know what you find out if you'd like to pursue this.

The wall you are speaking of is owned and maintained by the Woodlawn Center.

I will call or Chief of Police, Jim Carter, and advise him of the problem and have him notify the St. Matthew P.D. and have them made aware of this situation. There are other locations where it appears that someone is spraypainting on the fences along the railroad tracks.

I advised Chief Carter and he told me that St. Matthews PD is aware of the problem. He also advised it is not gangs who are involved as in other parts of the county.
