The Capitol Hill Neighborhood Partnership evolved from a citizen's group which was formed in 1994 to oversee federal funds being distributed to Capitol Hill. In 1996, this body expanded and dedicated itself to providing recreational and educational activities at Morey Middle School, a continued focus on crime and safety issues, and the development of the health initiative. Thanks to these efforts, Denver Public Schools has designated Morey Middle School as a Neighborhood Center, and administors a range of recreational and community programs at the school. Morey is located at 840 E. 14th Avenue (corner of Emerson and 14th) and its recreational facilities are open to the public Monday-Thursday, 6pm-9pm, and Saturday, 9am-3pm ($1 admission; $23 for a 6 month pass). Facilities include a swimming pool, gymnasiums, weight room, and indoor track. Classes with a nominal fee include funk aerobics, water aerobics and yoga. Free programs include a family film series, community film series, and actors workshop.
