Outlaw affixing ads to our homes

Posted in: Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods
I was wondering if I am the only person that is annoyed by the apparently legal advertising - at this point by one particular business- in our neighborhood. I am talking about the flyers that are being scotch taped to our homes - front doors and railings - for MILE HI AERATION.

I have called them and told them not to do it on my property to no avail. I have called the police and there is apparently no law that says they cannot affix advertising to my home without my permission - astounding! Only if it causes significant damage can I have anything done - the paint being pulled off my railings and door apparently doesn't count. This annoyance could very well alert burglars when I am out of town and not here to take them down immediately. It is also unsightly and an intrusion that I feel should be illegal. It is obviously cheaper than the US Mail - they even advertise that other small businesses can join in and do the same thing at www.inthisarea.com - an ''under construction'' web page.
Anybody else have thoughts on the subject? Thanks!
