Meeting Minutes
January 2006

The regular meeting of the CMRCC was held at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Branch Library on January 11, 2006. Joetta Mihalovich, chair, called the meeting to order at 6:36pm. Official business was conducted as reported below:

Approval of Minutes: Minutes from November 9, 2005 meeting were approved.
CMRCC Business:
San Diego Police Dept – Officer Paul Lennon reported:
There have been a few break-ins in the community. One was a residence where the owner’s had left their garage door open. (no arrests have been made). The residents were home, but several items were still taken. The other break in was at the CMR Club House, where $12,000 of computer equipment was stolen. The suspects were found and all equipment was located & returned to the CMR Club House.
Rancho Penasquitos had an attempted car jacking. (no arrests have been made)
7-11 Convenience Store on Carmel Mountain had a robbery (no guns were used). (no arrests have been made). Most of these crimes are being committed by gangs that live north of San Diego.
Home alarms, self protection devices (mace, pepper spray, etc) are highly recommended for all residents.
Supervisor Pam Slater-Price’s office – Jim Gonsalves reported:
Supervisor Slater-Price did a ribbon cutting for a new North County Animal Shelter in Carlsbad.
A donation of $25,000 was made to the RB Youth Soccer Organization.
Supervisor Slater-Price has stepped down as the Chair of the Board of Supervisors (her term was up). The new Chair is Bill Horn.
Councilman Brian Maienschein’s office – Courtney Smith reported:
Courtney introduced the new representative for Carmel Mountain – Brittney Rankin. Courtney will continue to support Councilman Maienschein at the RB Council.
Brian Maienschein was recently named Chair of Public Safety.
Courtney advised the board that advertising for the sale of condos was being done via large balloons that were inflated above the condos. They are not permitted & the condos have been fined.
Courtney advised if any residents see areas of the community that need repair (i.e., sidewalks buckling, curbs that need repainting, potholes, etc) to report those areas to Brittney who will spearhead the repair.
The landscape project on the corner of Camino Del Norte & Carmel Mountain has been approved & should begin very soon.
San Diego Planning Department – Jennifer Cordeau reported:
The Director of the planning committee has resigned & relocated to the Los Angeles area. They are currently looking for a replacement. As well, they are going thru a reorganization of the department.
Joetta requested a CD of the entire community plan. Jennifer will provide.
Chairs Report:
The Board Members voted in a new member – homeowner, Joe Durta. Joe has lived in CMR for 13 years. He became interested in joining the Board after the board meeting involving the CMR Club House took place. He was unanimously voted in.
The Chair thanked Vern Snyder (board member) for help on the community website (http://www.neighborhoodlink.com). She also reported that in November, there were signage & stripping changes to the roads in the community.
Bob Ilko has invited any interested party to attend a meeting of the Scripps Ranch Planning Board at the Scripps Ranch Library on 1/19/06 to discuss possible relocation of the SD International Airport and possible considerations at NAS North Island and MCAS Miramar.
The Cypress Greens project was turned down. The decision will be appealed on 1/26/06.
Shea Homes – John Nabors reported:
The building project for condominiums on the current driving range and the Eastborne project was approved 11/2/05. There have been appeals by 2 individuals on the basis of improper disclosure and traffic impacts to the community. A judge will hear the appeals on Thursday 1/26/06 at 9:30am. For those interested in viewing the plans, they can be found on www.cmrrca.org. If the plan, approved construction should begin in the summer of 2006 and last for 15-18 months. The project will be completed in 4 phases.
CMR Country Club – Charles Sirois reported:
The sale of golf rounds increased 150% in 2005.
They are working to address any homeowner concern that is brought to their attention & feel they have addressed a number of maintenance concerns.
2006 is the 20th anniversary of CMR Country Club. They are planning a celebration to take place. (Details to follow.)
The clubhouse is booking more events & had 29 new members join the club. They have a positive outlook on 2006.
Public Comment:
A resident promoted the new website & felt it was a great site to obtain information. (http://www.neighborhoodlink.com)
Another resident took the opportunity to acknowledge Charles Sirois for his commitment to the community and the effort he has made during the past several months to become a more available friend to the community. The resident encouraged the community to return the sentiment to Charles & the clubhouse.
