It is nearing two years since our assciation was founded. During this time, I have led our membership through some of the most difficult of times in the history of Carney. Development has threatened to rip our community apart. The constant threat of commercialization still hangs menacingly above our heads. I have no doubt that the spirit of our people will bring positive closure to all of the issues at hand, just as we have in the past.
We have brought a sense of pride and belonging back to Carney in times when this area was merely a nameless crossroad between Parkville and Perry Hall. In just the short period of our existence, we have grown from a back yard gathering to a formidable organixation. An organization worthy of the respect of elected officials, developers and our comunity. We have elected our officers, have formed a constitution and by-laws, we have incorporated and received non-profit status. We have guided development worthy of inclusion into our area and driven out the undesireable. We have enhanced public safety and laid the foundation for the future of the people of Carney. Much has been accomplished, however, so much is left to do.
Through all of this period of time, I have assisted in guiding our organization toward worthy goals and hope that I have served the membership of the Carney Improvement Association and the people of this area well. For this reason, I will forever continue to serve in any way possible. However, in October of this year, I will not seek re-election to the position of President. After serving two terms I shall stand aside and allow others to inject fresh ideals and new visions into this organization. Again, I will not allow myself to be distant from you my friends, but will assist in any capacity in which I am capable. Please give careful thought to a suitable candidate and afford your new leader the consideration you have given to me.
Thank you for your kind support during my tenure. I will forever remember the experience.
