  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor
Hi All,

Let's all get out there and support of service people. If we need to go to war let's support them.

We have to stop people who will threaten our way of life here in the USA and Piggsville.

Fly your flag and be proud of our forces.

Our way of life depends on it!

I also agree we should support and pray for our troops. They are individuals who are our brother and sisters, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, and our neighbors.

We must remember though, that they serve at the whim of our president, and may not necessarily agree with his decisions which are resulting in their deployment into the abyss of what appears to an inevitable war.

I am a veteran of the Vietnam conflict (2 tours) and spent 20 years serving in the army. However whatever way anyone feels about Hussein and war (and being an American means we can have a difference of opinion and I hope we can all respect each other in this venue without disrespecting one another ), I see on a daily basis how many Americans do not have a clue as to what war is really like. It's sure the heck not like a movie that you can turn on and off. People die, people get hurt and sometimes whole populations of cities, towns, and villages get wiped off the face of the earth. I remember getting off the plane here in town where protesters were calling me and others babykillers.

Do I want us to go to war after what I have witnessed and experienced? Certainly not. Is it necessary? I guess that will all wash out in the end like it did with Vietnam and other conflicts.

However, I hope that whatever side of the fence people are sitting on they will support our troops, many who are so very young, and be there for their families and friends left behind during the tough time we are all in for. So fly your flag and let's all support and pray for our troops and most of all lets pray for America!

Support the troops

I would agree with both of you who posted. Fly your flag, tie a yellow ribbon around your tree in your front yard, send letters of support to the men and women serving our country.

I like, the Old War Dog also served in a war, a very different war than Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War. He is correct many Americans have no clue on what the situation is. They might be able to get a better idea if they watch some of the shows on the History channel. They have had some great shows explaning about the history of the region and Saddam Hussein. If you get a chance to see any of these it might help getting a better idea of the situation that the U.S. is in.

I guess my last thought is everyone must remember that when you take the oath when you join the military, you swear to protect our country domestically, and abroad. Nobody wants to go to war but when you serve in the military, going to war is always a possibility, and you must be prepared to do the job that you signed up for.
