I know many of you have children that attend JO Combs Middle School.
Here are a few things you might not know.
Did you know that one policy that Mr Samuals (the principal) was having the teachers follow consisted of , if your child turned in homework and left 1 question blank, either by mistake or because they just did not know the answer, that child received a 0 ?… that is zero for the whole paper. I am not sure if this policy is still in practice. After speaking to Dr. Langer (District Superintendent) I was informed that this was NOT a District policy.
Did you know there is a substitute teacher that for some reason does not like to let his students take restroom breaks? My daughter has told me of different students walking out of this substitute?’s classroom because of this situation.
Did you know that many of the students that attend JO Combs do not report anything they feel is wrong to Mr Samuals, because they feel nothing will be done. Their words do not matter. My personal experience on this subject, ?“They?’re right?”. Mr Samuals has two separate policies, one for the students and one for his teachers. I have never heard of one of his teachers receiving a ZERO because of a mistake or not doing their job. Wait a minute we pay their salaries. Hmmmm
My daughter turned in a report, in which another student collected the reports. If any of you remember in College the teacher stood by the door and collected your assignments either on the way in or on the way out ?… really hard. Needless to say, someone got a hold of my daughters report and tried to blacken out her name. Although you can still read her name, the teacher gave my daughter a ZERO for the ?“not turned in project?”. After several e-mails, and days past, the report was magically found and my daughter was given credit for it. You might be thinking, ?“oh this guy is just mad at this teacher?”. Yes; I am mad. I am mad that my wife asked the teacher if this project could have been misplaced, and the reply was ?“my policy is to not accept late work?”. I am mad that after the report was found, in the teacher?’s possession, and I asked for an apology to my daughter and wife; what I got is how professional the teacher is, no apology. I am mad that this is happening not only to my daughter but possibly several other students as well, and nobody knows. I am mad that the teacher is not being held accountable by Mr Samuals for a mistake made. Not sure if it is a coincidence but, 4 days and 4 e-mails later after I e-mailed Dr. Langer asking for the time of the next school board meeting and stating I will rally my neighbors, I received a response from Mr Samuals. Hey I am on top of everything.
This is not the first issue I have had with JO Combs Middle School. Because my daughter still has one more year at JO Combs, this will probably not be that last either.
I am calling for everyone who feels that they or their children have been wronged by JO Combs and/or there personnel to contact me. I have asked Dr. Langer for the date of the next School Board meeting and plan on attending. You and I pay taxes, that pay for Mr Samuals salary, and the teacher?’s salaries. They work for us. Please come to the next School Board meeting and let your voice be heard on what you feel is right or wrong at JO Combs Middle School.
I will try to post when the next School Board meeting will meet.
