Dog Park Idea

Posted in: Castlegate

I have not yet made it to a community mtg. but i was thinking that a dog park in the area could be nice, most all of my neighbors have dogs and it would be a good social event and nice for them to be able to stretch their legs with other dogs off the leash. Cool We already have nice parks and it doesn't seem like it would take a whole lot to fence one or part of one. My puppy's are well trained and i can trust them when its just us going out but the roads are so close to the parks, and i don't want them licking people that don't want to be licked, therefore i don't ever let them off to play. Do others think this is a good idea? With more exercise and social interaction with dogs and people i think that most dogs would bark much less. A fenced area could also be a safe place for people to train and socialize their dogs for a safer community.

It's a good idea, however I think it could also open up many issues for surrounding homes such as Parvo outbreaks and other potential risks of disease.

Also, fencing is very expensive, especially to put fencing around a large enough area to accomodate animals to run, etc.

Also not sure what the insurance liabilities would be, if it would be on the individual owner of the dog or the HOA since it happened in a common area (if an issue were to arise).  I know many dog parks have insurance for that purpose.

I would imagine it's a lot more than simply putting a fence around one of the green belts.

This idea was raised at the last HOA meeting.  It is being looked into I believe, however there are many issues as the above posting stated.  Not only insurance, but cost of the fencing, and who is going to pick up the ahhh left overs?  I sure would not want to own a house close to the "dog park" because of the smell in the summer.  I know the positives would be great for our home owners with dogs to meet with others.  Too bad the City of Queen Creek does not offer such a park. I guess walking the dog on a leash (per our CCR's) will have to do for now.

That's good to hear that it is being looked into, my thought is that it might be like at pet-smart where its vaccinate and enter at your own risk and always pick up after yourself. Parks can be noisy places, children can sometimes be as loud as a pack of dogs Laughing.

You all have very good points.
