Hi all, I just wanted to let everyone know what I found when I went to work this morning.
I went to leave for work at 4:30 this morning and when I started the truck and tried to lock the doors, they wouldn't lock. I then noticed the little red light signaling that a door was ajar. I got out and walked around the truck and saw that both of my passenger doors were cracked open. I shut them and got back in the truck and then noticed that my overhead dome lights were on, the ones you have to press to turn on. I was already late for work so I called my husband from the road and he went out to check his vehicle and found everything to be okay. he then let me know later that he left his Ryobi drill in the back seat of the truck-which of course was missing, also missing was my registration and insurance info which is kept in a black book with all the truck info-this was later returned by one of my neighbors as it was left in his wheel well.
I normally alarm my truck every time I leave it, but hubby went in it yesterday afternoon to get something and didn't re-alarm it. (thx hubby) anyways, I have notified the police and they have already stopped by (as I'm writing this). The deputy told me that a couple other cars in our neighborhood got hit last night, one lady got her laptop stolen! Pecan Creek also got a few hits. i just wanted everyone to know and keep their eyes open. Do we have a block watch going on or can we start one? As nice as it is without the street lights, maybe we should petition for some. Hopefully the sheriffs office will send out some units to patrol our neighborhood. Thanks for listening and keep your doors locked! Next could be our houses!

Yes there is already a block watch. If you look on the main page here there is a link to sign up for their e-mails. According to the sheriff's deputies I have spoken with they consider Castlegate one of the safer subdivisions in the area, but yes cars do get hit. If you can it would probably be a good idea to park your vehicle(s) in your garage to give them added security. Sheriff's office does have units that patrol here as well as a bike patrol that rides around on bikes as well. |

Just to add the block watch link is under the "community links" on the right hand side of the page towards the bottom. |
