We've been here for 5 years and I've never seen a scorpion inside or out, however I also spray RELIGIOUSLY every 2 months for bugs, so crickets (their food source) doesn't last long so they have no reason to visit my house haha. Before I started spraying we did have a problem with black widows and brown recluses, but since I've been spraying (started 4 years or so ago) we haven't had any issues.
Your electric bill would depend on if you also have gas, what the size of the home is, insulation, window type, if you have sunshades or tint, how your house sits (where it faces), how often you use appliances, if you're on a time of use plan or the EZ-3 or basic or whatever, etc, so it's hard to say for that. If you go to SRP's website it tells you what they charge per kilowatt hour at each time of the year for basic, time of use, and the EZ-3, and the price difference for folks that use under 2,000 kilowatt hours and those that go over that. Their website is www.srp.net GREAT tools on that I'd encourage you to check it out. You can also call them, they are very pleasant to deal with. My home is around 3,000 sq ft, 2 story, we keep it to 75-77 all year round, no gas (so we're 100% electric), dishwasher run daily, 5-7 loads of laundry per week, 3 people living here (2 adults 1 elementary school child) all taking showers daily (hot water). watching TV, etc, I also work from home so I'm here 24 hours a day using stuff, but we upgraded in insulation, have low E windows with tint, and keep the blinds closed in the summers, my highest bill last year was $309. I changed to the time of use plan a few weeks ago and switched out a good portion of my lights with CFL bulbs and am hoping to save a little money but we shall see.
Our water, with having plants and such in the front, 1,000 sq ft of grass in the back, and my son frequently using his slip and slide in the summertime the highest bill was a bit less than $45, typically (outside of the slip and slide summer months) it's between $35 and $40.
Sewer is the same for everyone I believe at $41 and change per month.
We have Dish Network Satellite (HATED Mediacom and I've heard awful things on Cox), I've never had it go out or have any issues and obviously you can tailor that to what channels/packages you get. There's also DirecTV that services this area for satellite.
We have Qwest for our high speed (and regular phone) and I locked in for a life time rate of $26.99 per month for DSL a good 4 years or so ago (so yes high speed is available).
HOA has gone up last year and this year but it was only a few dollars, nothing drastic, and at $50 a month it's still lower than most (if not all) of the other subdivisions in the area and that includes your trash service.
Anyway, hope that helps some and good luck! |
