As my last post said Im in the process of closing escrow on a place in Castlegate, We looked at so many houses and it is hard to remember all of them and the areas.  One thing I didn't pay attention to and I see that post talk about it is no street lights, what is the reason for this, wouldn't it be a safer community if everyone could see what is going on in the dark?  With the HOA is it fairly easy to get the ok to do landscaping in the front and back yards, I would like to plant some more trees/bushes in the back and some in the front.  And how about the block fences I want to parge and paint our fence?  Any insight would be appreciated, I look forward to being in the community and getting to know people.

Thanks

The reason we have very few street lights is becuase Pinal County is what is called a "Star Gazing" or "Dark" county.  The county limits the number and location of street lights in an effort to keep it as dark as possible so that all can see the "beutiful" night sky.  Like it or not, and there are plenty on both sides!, thats just how it is.  As far as landcaping goes, the HOA is pretty liberal when it comest to doing your front yard.  There are certain standars that need to be met such as a minimum number of plants, but short of that, it is pretty much free game.  You just need to submit your plans to the HOA for approval.  As far as the back yard landscaping goes, the HOA has no say, it's all you.  As long as your trees do not hang over into your neighbors yard, you are good to go.  Make sure to talk to your realtor and get a copy of the CC&R's.  You will find out all you need to know there.  Here is another link for the community, you can find all the info you need there as well:  www.mycastlegatehome.com.
