Actually, the post office recognizes either QC or STV, but some prefer to use one or the other depending on thier views of incorporation.

I use Queen Creek since it is the address when I purchased the house and I refuse to associate myself with the proposed incorporation. I do not want to be associated with any political official who misuses funds to create signage for a city that is not in existence yet. County funds should not be used for the STV signs since we are not "the city of STV".

Just my opinion, but as far as your mail, etc.... either one is valid. :)

Yes both names are recognized, however it says "ACTUAL city name:  San Tan Valley" and then ACCEPTABLE City names Queen Creek:

Actual City name in 85140

SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ

Acceptable City names in 85140

QUEEN CREEK, AZ

SAN TAN VLY, AZ

(above is directly from the USPS website that I copied and pasted)  I use San Tan Valley and it has NOTHING to do with incorporation or non incorporation it has to do with the fact that that is now the actual/official name of this chunk of area.  I really have no opinion at this point on the incorporation deal so that has zero to do with my personal reasoning.

STV is not the official name of this area.

This area is officially Unincorporated Pinal County. This is according to the County Assessors office which is where federal, state, and then county funds are brought in. The USPS stands for United States Postal Service, hence the US portion belongs to the US. Any person can request that the USPS add a name according to the fact that so many people are using STV or another name. However, you could even put down Albuquerque, AZ or Botswana, AZ and as long as you use the correct zip code, then mail will still arrive at your address.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, just giving my opinion on why I only use the QC name.

FYI- the ones who are pro-incorporation are the same ones who spread the rumor that this area's official name STV. If you physically go into the post office, they will tell you that this area is considered a rural, unincorporated portion of Pinal County and that using either STV or QC is acceptable by their terms.

Hope this helps to clarify and that I did not mean to offend you, again. :)

I agree with Ashford and I bought my house in Queen Creek not some made up name of STV.

Why are we spending county money putting up signs for something that doesn't exist. I am totally against incorporation as I don't think any of us can afford to pay out another $5000/year when the only area they are going to take care of is along Hunt Highway.

I personally will continue to use Queen Creek as my address as that is where I live. I have wrote to the Post Office and asked them why some of my mail comes to STV as I don't live there. I haven't heard back from them yet.

Have a great day!!!
