i receive a flyer on my door last thursday asking if i feel safe in my neighborhood. honestly, i can say no i don't. my children and i moved to cedars east about 1 1/2 years ago. at first it seemed to be nice and peaceful. i use to walk around cedar-springs and elm forest regularly with no problem or fear. that is not the case anymore. we have kids and teenagers either walking around or just hanging out. i normally have no problem with this but their not just walking, their rude and disrespectful, they try to intimidate people for no reason. i recently encoutered a problem with a large group of children playing in the road and when i slowed down to wait for them to move they wouldn't, when they finally did one of them stepped up to my car and another got very loud and disrespectful. there were no parents outside monitoring them. the oldest one of them was about 13yrs. old. i no longer feel safe in my neighborhood when i have walked and the same kids are outside they make racial and violent comments towards me. i have two young children and i don't want them to suffer because of this once school starts back. i would love to see more effort from other parents and whoever needs to be envolved, i think a neighborhood watch would be great.
