My husband and I just bought 6739 Cedar Springs on April 19th. It used to be the forest on the corner, but we're trying to make it less of one. :)
Since we've been here, our house has been broken into and spray painted. Every few days we will wake up or come home to our back gate being opened. And I've even seen someone drive purposefully onto my lot and over our hedges. We really love our house and the people we have met on the block so far are really nice, but is this something that happens frequently? I really hope that we start a neighborhood watch and put and end to the crime here.

so sorry
welcome to the neighborhood, sorry it had to be under these terms. i was wondering who had bought that house. i am so sorry your having these problems. i agree we need a neighborhood watch, hopefully it won't be like the others i've heard of in the past that don't really make a difference. what do we need to do? i use to walk past your house every week before my little incident and now i just don't feel comfortable. what have the police said about your situation?

new to the block
Hi,
Welcome! No this is not the norm.
I live at the other end of the block. With the privacy fence. Not my idea, here when we bought.
I am very excited to get the watch started. I need to set up the time for the meeting to take place. I am working very hard to get it going.
I think a block party would be a good idea to get people's concerns together. I believe there are several people who want this turned around.
Keep your lights on, call the police anytime you see undesirable people hanging around.
I look forward to meeting you!

Neighborhood watch
Ok, Here is what we need to do. We need to use this site as a way to communicate with each other. I need help getting the message out to all who live here.Anyone wanting to walk to distribute flyers? All volunteers are welcome. We must work together. Call the police whenever you see trouble or what looks like trouble. Call 311 when you see trash in the area that is not being picked up, grass too tall, cars parked where they should not be parked. The way it works is we keep our eyes open. Bring the value of our area up by making it more desirable to live here. We can have block captains that keep this thing going. Meaning, if there is a crime, we call one another to let the other know what is going on. And whe keep the chain of communication open.
I can't afford just to move, we must do something together.
