I notice the majority of the speeding problems on St. Paul occur between 39th and 41st Streets. Has it ever been discussed to have a stop sign installed at the intersection of 40th and St. Paul?
Based on the number of kids who ride their bikes right down the middle of the street, I am afraid it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt by one of the cars that fly down the hill.

Speeding problem
Not only do they speed, but they blow all the stop signs. I would like to think that a stop sign would help, but I don't think it would matter to these people who drive like idiots. I know at several Valley meetings it's been suggested that the Police sit off of St Paul on 41st or 42nd. They would catch 10 people a night for speeding and blowing stop signs. (would also get people on past warrents, because these are the same people that make a ''quick stop'' in the Valley, but thats a whole other problem.)

Traffic and kid problems
I agree, there is a lot of cars issues in the neighborhood. Double parking when wanting to pick up someone, honking the horn instead of go up to the door and ringing their doorbell, cars going down a one way street the wrong way, etc... But I think another problem that needs to be addressed, is the kids. They seem to think that they can walk up and down St Paul in middle of the street, when a car approachs they get bad at the driver because they have to step aside. Or they think they can play ball in the street instead of the park.

Kids, Speeding Cars, Stop Signs
At the last Valley Meeting the speeding issue was brought up.
Since that meeting the cops did sit on some of the intersections a few times and a lot of people were ticketed, ALL were Valley residents, not visitors (according to Aldermans Service Report).
I think we have to look to our own residents regarding this problem. Do not know the answer because the cops are not going to babysit speeders, and the speeders are going to continue not to care how many stop signs there are.
Maybe we should take time of day, if we see this happen, description of vehicle, and a plate number and description of the driver to District 3-do it the same day it happens and go to their desk and ask what they are going to do about it if your willing be a complaintant.
Incidently,
A 6 year old boy was hit on his bicycle on the sidewalk on 39th and Clybourn when someone was attempting a U turn there and jumped the sidewalk. The boy was lucky to get away with only a leg broken in 3 places!
