VOLUNTEER

It's typical of people these days to complain about issues they have within their community but they're quick to point the blame at others. Do your part! I wonder what their property looks like as you drive by. I would guess one of the ''undesireable'' ones.

I volunteered alright

I volunteered myself right out of the community! Why would I stay somewhere where the neighbors (save for one very nice man across the street from us) couldnt be bothered to return a wave or a hello? Where the speeding thru the development has gotten worse instead of better? Where the board spends their time defending their actions and snotty replies rather than actually doing something more than neighborhood walks or landscape beautification meetings?

McIntyre may recover from this, but not without some very serious attention and a new board who knows how band a group together instead of pissing people off. I know it isn;t all HOA issues but with an HOA who doesn't know how to bond people and only irritates, no common ground will ever be found.

I'm VERY lucky - in the development that we just bought in, the HOA gets that - they have regular newsletters, A WELCOME COMMITTEE for owners AND renters to keep everyone engaged, VERY regular meetings, phone trees, and are VERY open to suggestions and feedback - even if they are being told something they may not want to hear.

I only came back tonight to show a friend who was considering buying in McIntyre what the HOA and the people there are like - I didn't have to do anything but show her the boards - she is as disgusted with the way people treat each other and as alarmed by the issues as we were before we moved.

Good luck to you all

And btw Damien?

Despite the fact we were renters there, our property was FAR from ''undesirable''

Following your lead, since you want to generalize, it's typical that someone like you would ASSUME someone who doesn't agree with you is complaining without being willing to do anything about it, and that their home would be ''undesirable''
