CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- New neighborhoods with speed humps in them are required to tear those speed humps down before the City of Charlotte assumes responsibility for their maintenance, but one neighborhood was allowed to bypass that rule angering neighbors.
That University-area neighborhood was allowed to keep its speed humps right before that decision. Neighbors said it was unfair because that neighborhood didn?’t have to get put on the city?’s waiting list and wasn?’t subject to follow city procedure.
City officials said the timing was a coincidence and changes were made afterwards.
