The Chatterleigh Association-A Brief Vignette

The apple orchards and the cows are gone now, but in their place are four lovely and quiet communities. The first homeowners arrived on Concordia Drive in 1959. Betty Foard tells the story that while the moving van was still parked our front, lightning struck their new home...a day to remember. The Brook Meadows development began in 1964, Hunt Club Farms in 1969, and Hunt Crest Estates in 1973.

The Chatterleigh Association was incorporated in August, 1993 under the leadership of the first President, William Lease. The Association was patterned after the Northwood Community Association. Presently, there are 313 residences in the four communites which make up the Association.

During its 33 year history, the Association has been active in keeping our communities beautiful and,in particular, keeping commercial enterprises from intruding on the north side of the beltway. Major efforts to preserve the communites have included opposition to construction of an office building, erection of lighted signs, the proposal for a home for the elderly and significant input to preserve the beauty of the Cromwell Valley adjacent to the eastern boundary of the Association. In one case, oppostion was successfully pursued all the way to the Court of Appeals in Annapolis.

With your interest and support, the Association will continue to grow and strive to make our collective communities places to be proud of,and a haven in which to raise our families and enjoy pleaasant living.
