Good warning for the Canadians, eh. Note that at the bottom of the Snopes page it says: Sherwood Brands says that the lots of Pirate's Gold chocolate coins which may have contained melamine were vended only in Canada, that none of those confections reached the U.S. ... so I think ya'll in NC can rest easy!
