Melissa, It would be great to know if they would at least start putting in Posted 25mph/etc. speed limit signs throughout the entire neighborhood. I've only noticed the speed limit signs around the school...no where else that I've seen. That would be a step in the right direction for helping keep everyone in our neighborhood safer. Of course, followed by more police monitoring/ticketing of the people who violate the law. Thanks for the update!

Is the speed limit 25 or 30 in the neighborhood.  We had a police car come out and radar the cars as they come down the street because to us it looks like they are going so fast.  The bad thing was, most of them were going 30mph which is entirely too fast in a neighborhood.  It's 40 out on Trinity where there are no kids playing so it's just 10 mph under that in our neighborhood.  We witnessed a girl get hit 2 years ago in front of our house.  The girl was on her bike riding in the street and a lady hit her.  The girl was ok but guess what the lady did....she kept going!!!  I called the police and gave the license number of the idiot.  She was late to pick up her kid after school so she didn't HAVE TIME to stop to check on the little girl.  The girl's bike was destroyed and both her tennis shoes flew off!  She was a lucky little girl that she wasn't killed.  Later that night the husband of the driver came to my door because he was scared his wife would be in trouble if I called the cops.  I told him I SURE DID CALL THE COPS ON HER and he said "well she doesn't speak english so she didn't want to stop"  OMG that is the most stupid answer ever.  I told him I didn't know where the little girl lived and told him I hoped he had a good lawyer because hit and run is a felony.

Damn right.  Whether or not you speak the native language of the country you're in, you are subject to it's laws.  Same as if we were to go to Mexico or some please else, if we break the law, we're in trouble THERE.  Personally, I've been avoiding the school zone as much as possible during the morning during the school year because it's so much confusion behind the school.  I've nearly been hit so many times for other drivers not paying attention, the line is so long dropping kids off at school, that it clogs the street behind the school.  Driving a different way may cost an extra 30 seconds to get out of the neighborhood, but it's less hassle.  Now with hearing that kids are getting hit, it's more of a reason to avoid the area during the morning.

It was awful that morning.  But I witness so many adults and kids not doing what they are suppose to do back here behind the school.  I live 3-4 house from the corner where it all happened.  I didn't witness anything that happened.  But to hear a kid scream for there mother is the worst sound anyone could imagine.

I have watched so many kids dart out from driveways before they even getting to the corner to cross the street at the stop sign.  I've seen so many adults rushing to work/school not even coming to a complete stop back here.

This could happen to any of our kid(s) at any giving time.  Please watch your surroundings and teach your kids proper bike riding or walking to/from school.
