Circle C Neighbors

A NEW BEGINNING FOR CCHOA?

Posted in: Circle C
Dear Santa,
Here's what I'd like to see you bring our HOA for Christmas:
1. An organized HOA meeting, instead of the free for all meeting earlier this year
2. A chance to review the proposed changes to the by-laws that a committee worked on all summer for us
3. The chance to discuss and then vote on whether to expand the board to 7 or 9 members, so more people participate in running our HOA and represent all parts of Circle C
4. More meetings with the board and our neighbors to discuss issues that we really are concerned about
5. An end to neighborhood hostilities and a united effort to make this the best neighborhood in Austin!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hello! Santa Clause

Dear Santa:

I wish you would install Asian Jasmin and sprinkler system on the common area at Edwardson Cove for Gary Bradley.

I wish you could stop our BOD using our hard-earned money to pay Bradley Development's equipment lease and office supplies.

I wish you could stop our BOD using our hard-earned money to pay Bradley's utility bills.

Merry Christmas to all of you!

2nd post

Lisa, this 2nd post has got to be YOU.

For some reason to really like this non-native invasive vine. There are MUCH better plants to plant. Please quit holding your breath for Bradley to do anything except maybe create new license tags for our automobiles!

Ho, ho, ho

Dear Neighbor,

The next meeting of our HOA is to take place late next month or early February. It is to be conducted under ''Robert's Rules of Order'' and should therefore prove to be far more organized and much less chaotic.

The first order of business will be to vote on numerous amendments to the bylaws which have been proposed and circulated by Carol DeSolla and some of her friends in the form of a petition that has been signed by over 300 Circle C homeowner members. The first of these amendments will be to allow the homeowners to elect a presiding officer for the HOA member meetings. If that amendment is passed then those in attendance will elect someone from among them to take charge of the remainder of the agenda who will have the responsibility of chairing the meeting and keeping order within the rules. If it is not passed, then Jim O'Reilly will continue to chair the meeting. It was he who chaired the last one that ended up in such a ''free for all.''

Following that vote, the members will determine whether or not to expand the board to include more positions which will be filled (provided the amendment passes) at the next meeting of the members scheduled for March 26. All of the bylaw amendments which were included in the petition will be voted upon individually and then an election will take place to fill the board position which is currently held by Steve Bartlett.

After that election, there is an agenda item entitled ''other business'' during which it will be proper for individual members to bring up any HOA business for discussion and to vote on any other matters requiring a vote of the membership. The other proposed bylaw changes that are not among those which were in the petition could very well be discussed and voted upon at that time.

As for an end to hostilities, we can each decide for ourselves to work toward making this an even better place to live, to conduct ourselves with dignity, to respect our neighbors and their rights to express their opinions, especially when we disagree with them.

May the spirit of the season be with everyone and good will prevail.
