SW Austin Fools?

Citizens for Mobility are the folks that have produced a slick campaign to push the whole Toll Road package TXdot has produced. If you have seen large ads in the Austin Statesman telling you that the Toll Plan must happen all at once or it will not happen at all, you have seen their handy work. If you've received a piece of direct mail telling you how the Tolls in SW Austin produce revenue that will be used for ''Our Neighborhood'', you have seen their LIES.

When I received my Direct Mail from Citizens for Mobility, I first asked, ''Who are these people?''. I looked up their website that was printed on the direct mail (www.congestionrelief.com). The website did not reveal anything but a name of the chairman. No email, No phone number, No address. I took the name of the chairman and did a search on google that provided me with a phone number.

He was an attorney, named Pete Winstead. I gave Pete a ring. When I asked him ''who funds Citizens for Mobility'' he laughed at me. I told him I knew I had the right to look at his books and find out for myself and he gave me Howard Faulkenberg's phone number. I called Howard and asked him the same question ''Who funds Citizens for Mobility?''. He laughed as well. Maybe my voice sounded funny that day or something.

Too make a long story short, he told me who funds them when he found out that I was prepared to go there and look for myself. He said mostly construction and engineering companies funded Citizens for Mobility. I'll take a wild guess: It's the same companies that will build the Toll Roads and make tens of millions of the 2.2 BILLION dollar toll package.

The next time you see their work, think about who they are. Tell your neighbors who they are. They claim the Toll plan WILL NOT CHANGE. I'll bet that the Toll Plan could be altered. It's very possible that it WILL be altered. They say the Tolls in SW Austin will produce revenue that will be used for ''our neighborhood''. A REAL FACT: The Toll dollars collected from a SW Austin Toll can get used as far as Round Rock. Last I looked, Round Rock is in NOT in SW Austin.

Does this anger you? It should. Please email Campo today at campo@campotexas.org and tell them NO TOLL at Wm Cannon. Our Tax dollars already paid for this bridge! Only a fool would want to pay for a road he already paid for. And we are not fools.

Your friend and neighbor,
Sal Costello
Circle C Resident

Also, please forward this email to your friends and neighbors. Have them send an email to NoWmCannonToll@aol.com to be updated on how we will stop this Toll at Wm Cannon together. We also need volunteers, email me to help.
Statesman fodder?

Mary Ann Roser of the Austin American Statesman wrote a front page article today exposing the true constituency of Citizens for Central Texas Health, the organization campaigning for a county-wide hospital district. Perhaps she would find the Citizens for Mobility group of similar interest, since it appears that both organization's ''citizens'' are really a small group of ''corporate citizens'' and their paid lobbyists.

Statesman

The Statesman would not run a story on Citizens for Mobility since they pay the Statesman lots of money to run their misinformation...er um...I mean ...ads.
Statesman...

Perhaps, but I wouldn't just assume so. Give her a call.
