Circle C Neighbors

Curious about website policies

Posted in: Circle C
I am new to this website. Before signing on, I looked at some of the back posts. Many were from anonymous parties. And because a few posts were particularly vicious in their attacks or disagreement with opinions, I decided to post anonymously (which the sign-up process says is just fine.)

I posted twice yesterday. Two suggestions, no personal attacks...unles suggesting everyone pay their dues was considered a personal attack. And by today I have been called a coward, with an inference that I am somehow against free speech. Nice.

I just think we are fixing to go through a period of considerable change in the HOA. I think we need to approach change very carefully. If there is no room for discussion about issues like these, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll try again at some point, and continue to be positive.
You're not a coward

Dear Resident7,
There is nothing wrong with posting anonymously. In some cases people just want to say something without risking their own email or phone getting bombarded with spam or crank calls.
As to your message, there's nothing wrong at all asking members to pay their dues...in full. If a resident has a gripe with something, he should take it to the leadership and pursue whatever other recourse that could be available. To withhold dues, however, in my opinion is childish and simply free rides on the rest of our coattails.
Now, about changes in the neighborhood, you are correct. We are about to undergo considerable change. This week's winners to the board promised more communication, more openness, open bidding on service contracts and a return of the pool to the neighborhood instead of to a handful of folks who thought it nice for us to subsidize their swimming hobby. Change is good. Change is inevitable.
Keep posting, anonymously is fine.
I agree with you.

Moderator comments....

This forum is like a suggestion box, you can pretty much make any comments you like, but unlike a real suggestion box, it's here for everyone to read.

The Terms on Neighborhood Link are pretty typical, however, they are unique in that they insist that we respect privacy and anonymity, and that is part of your free speech guarantees.

Many of the posts here are childish in nature, and they do hurt the overall effort, which is to improve the Circle C Ranch community. Sometimes, you do have read through a lot of pointless chatter to get to a useful post. Early in the web site?’s history, I was reluctant to post, because I was uninformed about so many topics and I didn?’t have any helpful suggestions. It motivated me to do some research over the past 18 months, and many of the posts here have led me to some shocking and disappointing discoveries.

The most obvious need for this website, is that CCHOA has nothing like it. You can call the CCHOA office, send an email, or write a letter, but in doing so, your correspondence is rarely shared with the CCHOA membership. In the last year, we did have some improvement in communication, when a few hand picked FAQs were posted on-line and in the Newsletters. However, official CCHOA communications biased and heavily censored. You don?’t have to believe that?’s a good or bad policy, but I think that you do have to admit, it?’s not timely, balanced, or fair. As long as the CCHOA board and staff are trusted, such communications are not suspect, but over the last two years, the integrity of the entire organization has been under constant challenge. Some terrible mistakes have been made in the past and hopefully, we are moving quickly to correct those past problems and get back on track.
