Toll Road Update (Via OHAN)

As you all know, CAMPO voted to remove the William Cannon section of Mopac from the proposed Toll plan. There are however, several sections of the toll plan that include roadways already paid for and under construction. Some members of the CAMP TPB have expressed concern regarding aspects how TxDot and the CTRMA have presented information to the Board and the public. An important CAMPO public hearing will be held on Monday, February 14th at the LBJ Auditorium 25th & Red River. Free parking is available. Please mark your calendar's for this meeting.

Additionally, there will be a story on the Trans Texas Corridor aired on KVUE News 24 tonight (Friday) at 10pm.

That's Valentines Day, so you might want to be picking up some Flowers and a card on the way to or on the way back from the UT Campus. Hope to see you there.....

TTC meeting - Feb 28

The Trans Texas Corridor project is picking up interest, now that we are seeing the effects of Hwy 130.

I was surprised to learn that TxDOT thinks that they have canvased Texas with public meetings - one in each of the 254 counties ?? (hardly - many of those west Texas counties have more cows than people). Not only that, but TxDot did a second round of public meetings and claims few people attended those (I don't know about you, but I never even heard about them, unless they are trying to count that meeting at Kiker last summer).

And now, TxDOT has announced a new series of meetings, only in the I-35 corridor. I think here are about 50 meetings scheduled, only one in Travis county and it will be in far East Austin. It will also be one of the last meetings, on Feb 28th.

I found this information at their newest web site:

http://www.KeepTexasMoving.org

Think this has nothing to do with Circle C Ranch ? Take a closer look at the southern connection of Hwy 130. That stretch is going to be the most contested part of the entire project - how and where it connects to I-35. And, if it will continue on to a new section of SH 45 to Mopac.

The TxDOT pressure is to connect I-35 to the southern end of Circle C Ranch (our the only existing section of SH 45). Right now, the closest approach from that direction is along FM 1624.

Oddly, the last 2-3 mile leg of SH 45 SW may be Tollfree, because they can't get approval to build the ''Free'' alternative feedroads and they would make little sense anyway, since there currently exists no free route (other than driving way north on Brodie Lane or Manchaca). The other reasons are environmental - there is only enough physical room for handling the water runoff to build 4 lanes max, and most of that would be overhead bridge (an ugly view from the LBJ WFC, for sure).

Our SH 45 segment is likely to be ignored for a long, long time.
