The TRUTH about the CDC

Posted in: Circle C
To Sal & Lisa,

If you are going to post information about the Child Development Center, at least do your homework. The truth is...

1. Tuition went up 2% last fall and is going up 3.5% this fall. The 20% increase you have listed is completely wrong.

2. Look at the CDC website again. The statement about tuition being 40% cheaper than other centers is a statement made for the Learning Center which is a tutoring program for 1st through 12th grade. This is a completely separate program from the child care program. The Learning Center is sponsored by Knowledge Points and IS IN FACT 40% cheaper than other tutoring programs such as Sylvan, Kumon, and Huntington.

3. The CDC is not the most expensive day care in South Austin. Child's Way in Oak Hill costs more as does Child's Day off of South MoPac.

The cost of child care is expensive, no doubt about it. I pay quite a bit to have my child attend the CDC. But, when you do the math, it only ends up that I am paying somewhere around $4 per hour for top quality care for my child. Yes, there are less expensive Centers in town but the bottom line is... you get what you pay for. The CDC is an excellent Center. Your statments are unfounded and ignorant. I would imagine that neither one of you have ever stepped foot in the Center at all. Speak the truth or keep your mouths shut. Just because you are constantly looking for a new CAUSE does not give you the right to drag the CDC through the mud. Leave us alone.

For the record

For the record, weeks ago, I said it was ONE OF the most expensive Day care facilities in Austin. It is.

I also said, Circle C Child Development Center is classified as a nonprofit. It is.

It was subsidized with 1.5-2 million dollars from $1,000 per home. It was.

I also said it has only one BOD - it's Gary Bradley. His record of not paying Uncle Sam tens of millions of dollars doesn't put him in the ''cub scout'' category.

My original question stands.

As a nonprofit subsidized with around 2 million dollars, how can it be one of the most expensive day care centers in Austin?

At this moment, I am not motivated to invest time into ''cleaning up'' the CDC. But if anonymous people begin calling my facts wrong and ignorant, I just might get motivated. I invested the past year to change the leadership of the CCHOA, I hope someone else will look into the CDC.

$1,000 Child Care Center Fund

What? Do my homework??? Of course I would do my homework; I love doing homework. That is exactly the reason why on March 30 I sent a letter to the Circle C Development Center to request the following:

-the Exemption Application
-the Income & Expenses Statements from 1992 to 2003
-the Balance Sheets from 1992 to 2003
-the Tax Returns from 1992 to 2003

At this point, I like to focus on the cost of the facility. I wanted to find out why this child care center could cost more than two million dollars. Are the playground equipment made of Karat gold?

I look forward to doing my homework and reporting the truth, nothing but the whole truth.
