Circle C Neighbors,

This is the second board member of the campo board to step up and say NO TOLL over William Cannon. The time for ACTION is now. After the 10th, it will be to late. The William Cannon overpass is already paid for with our tax dollars, don't let CAMPO make us pay again, everyday we drive up to that Toll. Once the Toll is there, it will NEVER go away.

Thank you for contacting me to express your strong opposition to the proposal by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority and TxDoT to designate the MOPAC overpass of William Cannon as a toll road.?

Like you, I am very concerned about any change in the status of this segment of MOPAC that is already under construction, as well as about the conversion of any existing roadway to a toll facility.?  The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) Transportation Planning Board will hold the only scheduled public hearing on this matter on Monday, May 10, 2004 at 6:45 p.m. at the Joe C. Thompson Center Auditorium at Dean Keeton (26th Street) and Red River.?  It is important that your voice be heard in this process and I encourage you to attend the public hearing so the entire CAMPO board will know your position on this plan.?  Comments on the proposal can be submitted at the public hearing on May 10 or to CAMPO until May 28 by fax at 512-974-6385, mail at P.O. Box 1088, Austin, Texas, 78767, or email at campo@campotexas.org?  The following links contain more details about the full proposal and the public hearing as well as a list of the other CAMPO board members you may want to contact.

I appreciate you taking the time to contact me about this very serious matter and have shared your views with my Chief of Staff, Shyra Darr, who I have assigned to monitor this issue.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. xxxx,

While I support the completion of all the vitally needed transportation projects included in the plan and do not oppose toll roads in general, I do not support turning this MOPAC overpass into a toll road or converting other existing roadways into toll facilities.

Sincerely,
Terry Keel

3rd CAMPO BOD steps up

3rd CAMPO BOD (that I know of) steps up for NO TOLL for William Cannon overpass.

I'll vote against it if the money appropriated to it originally was tax dollars. I am opposed to converting existing roads to toll roads.

CCHOA board out in force!

I was happy to see the CCHOA directors in the front row at Kiker. I heard Chirs Dietz and then Mary Goehring speak up. Quinten Fennessy was there and Steve Urban was in the wings. (He and Jim O'Reilly were at a ZAPCO hearing earlier in the evening.)

I was so happy to see my neighbors and the other neighborhoods turning out to hear the presentation and lecture after lecture - geeez, Bob, just answer the questions and move on. I think a lot more people could have been heard, but Bob just seemed to on a one track message.

This Toll road is NOT inevitiable! In fact, it's probably illegal if you look at it hard enough. The fly over bridges are new projects and frankly, I'm not sure that we can fight that new project, but we have already paid for the William Cannon bridge project and it will be done before the end of the year. It's just not fair to double tax the one mile stretch and there are no effective alternative roads. The feeder roads still won't cross Convict Hill.

This Toll Road just can't be justified!
