2 Toll Road Meetings

Kiker TOLL ROAD TOWN HALL
This Town Hall is expected to be similar to the first. If you did not attend the 1st one, it's suggested you go to this one.

1. CTRMA/TxDOT Community Meeting TOLL ROADS South/Southeast Austin
This Thursday - May 27, 2004
6:45pm
Kiker Elementary School

--------------------

THE MOST IMPORTANT MEETING
CAMPO monthly meeting:
Campo' s Vote was extended 1 month. We made great progress with our last CAMPO attendance. We all need to go there one more time and I think we can win! This is one last chance to stop the Wm Cannon Toll. Everyone can get up to 3 minutes to speak. If you don't want to speak, we are asking everyone to step up to the microphone for at least use a few seconds to say....''NO WM CANNON TOLL!'...WE ALREADY PAID FOR IT!''

Once THE TOLL is put there...it will never go away. We already paid for the bridge.

A toll on the Wm Cannon Bridge is expected to make our home values drop, since every family is expected to have to pay at least $500 - $800 more a year. The CCHOA Board and almost all neighborhoods in SW Austin have signed a resolution to say NO WM CANNON TOLL!

2. CAMPO monthly meeting
Monday, June 14, 2004
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Room 1.110, Joe C. Thompson Conference Center
Address: Dean Keeton (26th) and Red River

PLEASE GO TO THIS MEETING

email campo at campo@campotexas.org today with your name & address. Tell them NO TOLL at Wm Cannon!

New thinking needed

Nothing has ignited the activity in Austin Neighborhoods like this new Austin Mobility (Tool Road) plan.

It's not a workable solution for traffic woes and it does nothing to promote alternative mass transportation of any size or scale.

Instead, we should be working with Capital Metro - they CAN and DO reduce congestion already.

We have a natural barrier at Town Lake that separates south Austin from North. We can NEVER build enough bridges across the that lake - NEVER.

Instead, we need highspeed rails (comuter rails, tunnels, or monorails), not just more roadway lanes.

And, we need more jobs moved to south Austin so we don't have to always drive to over the lake to find work and shopping.

Lets pressure the state to set up more offices in south Austin - it's cheaper for them, too!

If you work in downtown Austin, you will find it cheaper to use a rail or bus, than pay for downtown parking.

And while we are looking for tax revenue, how about raising PARKING RATES ??
