I have live in Lake of the Woods for 2 years now. I know that this community is made up of alot of older citizens but there are more and more younger families moving in with young children. I myself have three. I learned my first year living here that no one in our community takes part in halloween. Me and my family walked around for about an hour trying to find people with their lights on, only to be disappointed to see that most that had their lights on was just a nightly habit most of us do and no more than 4 or 5 actually had their lights on for trick-or-treaters. I understand the concerns of some not wanting to participate because of crime, and I also realize that for many years there were not many children living in the area but times have changed. I love living here and I would love it if everyone could rally together somehow and spread the word that there are plenty of little gouls and gobblins that would love to visit you Oct. 31st!
I realize that it is probablly to late this year for a change being so close to halloween, but, hopefully next year I won't have to drive my kids to some other neighborhood. I would love to hear any thoughts anyone might have.
