The association meeting was called to order by President Tasha at 6:30 p.m.  There were 30 neighbors in attendance.

Vice Preseident Mr. Earl gave a report on the crimes that have occurred in the neighborhood in the past month.

There was a lengthy discussion from some neighbors in regards to the ticketing by the IMPD for illegal parked vehicles and trailers.  President Tasha reminded all neighbors present that it is breaking the law to park in your yard, on the median between the sidewalk and street, and blocking the sidewalk.  A discussion  was held amongst several neighbors regarding what should be the top priority to help get our neighborhood back to a better neighborhood.

President Tasha gave a "Hero" plaque to one of the neighbors of Gateway, (Mr. Tim) for helping to apprehend a man who jumped from his car and ran after causing a head-on collision on Gateway Drive  February 23, 2008.

President Tasha had the neighbors that were present to break into three groups to discuss who they would like to see as guest speakers at the upcoming neighborhood meetings, how to improve getting neighbors more involved within the neighborhood, the placement of the crime watch signs, and how to raise money for additional ten light  poles in the neighborhood.  Some of the suggestions from the groups for guest speakers were Zoning Commissioner, City-County Councilman, Drug Task Force Officer, and Excise Police Officer.  Suggestions for getting more involvement from the neighbors are to advertise who guest speaker will be by word of mouth and send out officers to spread the word.  Suggestions for the placement of the Crime Watch signs were at Gateway and High School Road, Gateway and Moller Road, Lawndale and Westhaven Drive, Bennett and Westhaven Drive, Price and Getz Lane, Sherlock and Steinmetz, Windmill and Whitaker Drive, and 41st Place and Eisenhower Drive.  Time did not allow for the last discussion question to be answered so President Tasha asked each neighbor to take the map of the neighborhood home and decide where they think the ten light poles should be placed and bring their suggestions back to the next meeting.

President Tasha reminded everyone of the upcoming events:  filling of Easter eggs and making Easter baskets, March 14, School 109, 6:30 p.m.; buffet dinner at St. Gabriel School to raise money for their Tuition Assistance Program, March 19, 5:30 p.m.; March 20, Weed meeting at Colnial Square Apartments, 6:30 p.m.; March 22, Easter egg hunt at Gateway West Indy Park, 12-3 p.m.; March 27, Seed meeting at Covenant Baptist Church, 6:30 p.m.; April 2, IMPD Task Force meeting, Northwest District Headquarters, 6 p.m.; and the next Gateway West Neighborhood meeting, April 3, School No. 109, 6:30 p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sharon Alvey
