Repairing the fish-kill damage

Posted in: Millbrook Addition Home
In August/September of 2006, there was an estimated (by the Parks and Wildlife Dept. that I had assess the damage) 1500-2000 fish killed in the Millbrook Canals water system. Those of you that don't fish the canal simply can't appreciate the damage this caused to the fish population and more importantly the often times fragile ecosystem within the canal. I have fished extensively on both sides of the canal system from both the banks and from a paddle boat and there is without a doubt a considerable loss of the mid-size to larger bass and the critically needed ''bait'' fish. I have spoken to several 25+ year residents on BOTH sides of Millbrook Drive that say the fishing is nothing like it ''used'' to be ''back in the day''. Please chime in with any stories/advice and let me know if I can depend on your support in my personal edeavor to bring the fish population back to its past levels as my future children will grow up here and many of your own children/grandchildren could more enjoy the wonderful sport of catch and release fishing here in our beautiful neighborhood. Thank you very much, Brian Van Pelt (1412 Millbrook Drive)

The canals were re-stocked just this week with bass, shad, and tilapia!
