Dear Neighborhood Watch Leaders:
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, May 10th at 6:30 p.m. here at Mt. Moriah Station. As usual, our command staff will have the latest crime statistics and will be available to take your questions.
Our guest speakers this month will be officers from the DUI unit. These officers are specially trained in the testing of drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
According to statistics, one in three of us will be, or have been, impacted by a drunk driver. Do you know what constitutes a drunk driver? Could you drive unimpaired after one drink? Two? Come safely test your presuppositions. DUI will have the tools to simulate driving skills at different levels of alcohol consumption. With many of our graduations just weeks away, please help us get out the message that drinking and driving don’t mix.
It is hard to believe that it is already May! I hope all of you are making plans to celebrate National Night Out this year. The official date for this national celebration is Tuesday, August 2nd. Not only does National Night Out heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, it also generates support and participation in your neighborhood that sends a message to criminals that we are organized and fighting back.
On behalf of Colonel Hampton and the command staff of Mt. Moriah Station, thank you for your service to our community.
Sincerely,
Leigh Jackson,
Neighborhood Watch Coordinator
