IREA/CherryCreek

Posted in: Greenfield
I spoke to Mr. Mike Langlett in Cherry Creeks planning area and here is what he stated to me as best that I can remember. First Cherry Creek has not signed anything with IREA and probably will not. However, IREA has the right to condem the land and take it anyway. Then there is a procedure that IREA has to follow with the Arapahoe county planning board and a public hearing. IREA approached them about the land because someone felt it would be a good site. Cherry Creek said first approach the homeowners and have them agree with the site. Also this will not look anything like the one on Arapahoe road if it does go through. The electro-magnetic field has little or no effect unless you are directly under it. He also said Village Homes had nothing to do with it. This is what I could remember, I hope it helps with some of the misinformation that is out there.
Thank you

Thanks for the update...factual information is always appreciated. Obviously Village had nothing to do with it, but they could do more to help fight it.

Yes, I also heard that someone in this community informed IREA about the site. We spoke to IREA and they said this wasn't their first pick. They wanted to build it on commerical property on Smoky Hill, but the land was to expensive. Why couldn't they just CONDEMN
IT? They wouldn't give us an answer. They also said it wouldn't look like the one on Arapahoe Rd., but the owners who live on S. Himalya Court would be looking into it. That would greatly impact their property value. Last, and most importantly, for every study that claims there are no health risks, I can find one stating there is.

Maybe we should get Tom Martino and his TV news crew involved with this situtation. Alot of people watch this news channel and it would be a great avenue to get our concerns voiced....What do you all think? We obviously aren't getting any help from Village or the HOA....
