Aphid control?

Posted in: Congress Park
Hi neighbors,

We have had some serious aphid infestation on one of our trees in our backyard. It's not clear what kind of tree it is, but my guess would be some sort of ornamental plum or similar.

I bought a bag of ladybugs, but they seemed to have all flew away. I'd like to avoid chemicals&pesticides if possible...

For the time being, hosing the tree off with a high-powered spray seems to be controlling them. Also, they seem to be diminishing on their own to some extent-- maybe it's just a spring phenomenon.

Any info would be most appreciated!

Thanks, --cj

Aphids Be Gone

Chris,
I have found "organic" bug spray at the nursery near E14th and Krameria. The name escapes me at present. It got rid of the aphids on my ivy vine and roses. You could mix it up in a sprayer bottle with a tree nozzle attachment. Yes aphids are mostly in spring and early summer.
