Br. Anon.

I thought the research you did on constitutional matters was excellent. I was remiss in not saying so before.
It seems that our mayor's race got nasty towards the end of the campaign. I, too, don't like the tactics that are being used. However, I don't think that they have anything to do with streamlined government - we don't even have it yet.
I may write-in Br. Anon. for mayor.

Thanks Adrian!

Woe!
Thanks for the great post Adrian.
For those of you that might have missed it, it got buried towards the top of the discussion. Posted the 28th-
"you are clearly mistaken".

For Adrian

At the statewide election in 1998, Broomfield voters voted 62% in favor of the city/county constitutional amendment. No matter what you say, that is the will of the Broomfield voters. You are acting contrary to that will.
There is no need for a statewide revote. Broomfield should have the opportunity to focus on becoming a city and county and not have to fight a repeal based on petty reasons. Yes, petty reasons. CVELG does not like Broomfield's jail decision, so you want to throw off the city/county. CVELG says Broomfield would not listen to them. Yet Broomfield moved the jail further away from Countryside than originally planned. Seems to me that Broomfield did listen to you. Now you want to castigate the process leading up to having the matter placed on the statewide ballot. That's nonsense. What you and some of CVELG's other members do not understand is that once the matter became that of the state legislature, the responsibility for hearings became the state's, not the Broomfield city council's. Hearings by the state sentate and house committees were open to anyone who wanted to be heard. Anyone who was opposed to the city/county idea or anyone who was opposed to even having the matter placed on the statewide ballot had full opportunity to be heard at these hearings. Some of CVELG's members have commented that no one knew about these hearings. That is also nonsense. It is also an insult to the state senate and the state house of representatives. Everyone had a full and free opportunity to be heard.

Things I'm Hearing

I thought I would share with you some of the things I have been hearing about your petition drive.
One person said that one of your members said that if Broomfield is no longer a city and county, Broomfield will not build the jail.
Another person said if a jail is not built, a shopping center will be built where the jail was going to be built.
I don't know if these are factual or not.
