I mot involved in any local campaigning this year; so I do not know what message the candidates are receiving. However, if there was a question of the county; who, in their right mind, would raise this as a political issue and try to address a solution? What would that solution be: suggest that if they are discontented; call Countryside?
Additionally, why try to stop the petition drive? It is not a vote for or against the county; it is a petition. Nothing wrong with a petition.

This is exactly what is so frightening about citizen led initiatives -- that they are proposed by citizens who do not understand the political process nor the political system under which we are governed. They do not bother to educate themselves enought to learn the pertinent laws nor even the sections of the constitution they wish to change, yet they feel they can govern the rest of us by passing a state-wide constitutional amendment. How ethical is that?
To Anonymous: Political System?

What political system are you talking about? The AMERICAN political system is based on a government of, for, and by the people.

I suggest you are of a small loop of people who think they can "control the populace"; and when the populace decides to vocalize their opinion, you will degrade, harass, and publicly minimize their effort until they are exhausted and go away.

If this is your intent here; think again. You are totally in the dark about this group; perhaps, just perhaps, you and your "loop" will loose this time. You deserve it; you earned it. You idea of the "political process" has already been denied by the Secretary of State, and the appeals court.

I'm the same BBW. I am abiding by the board's request to be considerate of others.
What do you mean by "denied by the secretary of state and the appeals court?" What was denied?
Regarding my question about the state's hearings, the only thing I recall is you believed Larry Cooper lied about the number of meetings.
Abraham Lincoln used the words government of the people, by the people, and for the people to describe what democracy meant to him. It also needs to be kept in mind that our founding fathers established a republican form of representative government, not a direct democracy.
You have raised concerns that more public hearings should have been held regarding the city and county of Broomfield constitutional amendment. I ask you: how many public hearings are being held by CVELG regarding its attempt to repeal the constitutional amendment? When asking people to sign its petition, all CVELG needs to do is to present its side of things and ask people to sign. There is no opportunity for the other side to express its position. There is no opportunity for debate and cross examination. I submit to you that the effort to undue the city/county is contrary to the will of the Broomfield people. Whatever the process was leading up to the statewide election, the fact is that Broomfield citizens voted 62% in favor of the amendment. Broomfield's populace is known for being informed and voting accordingly.
