To BWW..As a friend..

Hi BBW. Thanks for the compliment. I will accept your write-in vote; and likewise write-in my vote for BBW. How's that for a headline: BBW and BR Anon to lead the city into the next century!

Unfortunately with the story in today's Camera; (Bouldernews.com); we have a real problem with the actions of Mayor Berens. First, he is determined to make this a bi-partisan issue; and we deal with the pettiness of "sign stealing".

Now however, the situation is more serious. Berens is seen at Kinko's faxing press releases with false information about Larry Cooper; actually indicating he is under investigation by our police.

In all seriousness; absolutely sincerity, if you are a friend of Bill Berens; I do hope you can talk to him about resignation from the Mayor's race.

His actions have embarrassed both political candidates and their respective parties (I have never sought this information; as I refuse to classify people by political party affiliation and in BF we are to be non-partisan; since he identified himself a Republican; his subsequent actions may have, at the least, caused an embarrassment to the Republican party.
Mr. Cooper has every right to file a libel suit against Mr. Berens.

How about a recall, and nominating someone such as Tom Brunner for Mayor; if Berens does stay in the race and, heaven forbid, win?

Thanks for the great post delineating the issue of the jail from the current goals of CVLEG. This is a perception that CVLEG will have to clarify in voter's minds; also could add that Mr. DiCero has already stated that the jail can be leased to other counties for use when CVLEG wins.

Legislative Hearings 98

Hi Br Anon, Thanks for the kind words. It seems like I hardly ever get to exchange with you any more - just to darned busy lately. They'll never let the "J" word go, will they? Actually, I don't see that it hurts us. Westminster is filled with people who are still steaming over that issue. And those folks grab the petitions from our hands to sign before we've even explained OUR reasoning for Repeal. BFCC has made a lot of enemies in this town. And if those angry people have a different reason to support Repeal than I do - Oh well.

I think it really doesn't matter what our opponents think we're about. People who have experienced the results of unethical acts on the part of local governments understand readily. The people benefiting from those unethical acts don't care.

On the topic of the legislative meetings - I have listened to some of the audio tapes. The first meeting was the House Local Government Committee, and as I recall, the representatives did mention that even they only had the proposed issue documentation to reveiw over the previous weekend. Considering that, it seems highly unlikely that the hearing would have been advertised in advance for citizens to attend. And I believe all 4 legislative meetings were held with in about a 10 day period.

Someone else posted earlier that they had heard the tapes. Maybe they can remember this and shine light on the issue.
