For Adrian - Thanks

I want to you to know that I appreciated your thoughtful response to my listing of the city/county benefits. If anyone is opposed to the city/county because he or she does not believe that there are significant benefits, I don't have any problem with that. I believe there are substantial benefits for Broomfield citizens. We are all entitled to our own opinions. What I take exception to are unfounded comments such as the only reasons for the city/county are benefits for large corporations or benefits for elected officials. That just isn't true. Broomfield's elected officials will have much more to do and at the same pay which is not very much. They recently turned down a proposal for a modest pay increase. Will they have more power? Is that what this is all about? I honestly do not think so. They may have some additional powers because of the additional functions for which they will be responsible. But, that's a far cry from the "Boss Tweed" type of thing. I believe that Broomfield's city council members are highly ethical and have the best interests of citizens in their minds and hearts.
In my posting of city/county benefits, I listed the benefits that were in brochures, but I also tried to expand on them, especially regarding health and human services. In my opinion, Broomfield is really hurting in these areas. Regarding, uniformity of election procedures, while this may seem to be not substantial, I believe it is. Our right to vote is one of the most important things we have in a democracy. Citizens should not be confused as to how to vote. This has been a problem in Broomfield because of its multi-county situation and needs to be corrected. I've had the opportunity to talk with Broomfield's new Human Services Director. I think we will all see some very innovative human services programs that will benefit all of us. I believe the city/county deserves a chance.
