RICHFIELD EXPANSION

Your statement:
''If the town ceases to exist, and the Farm and other communities to our North continue to expand, there will be a great deal of pressure to make the Buckley-Richfield connection a major thoroughfare.''

My response: IF the town ceases and IF the farm and other communities... It appears that you are trying to sell FEAR
(False Evidence Appears Real). You are supposing that Arapahoe County wants to expand Richfield. It doesn't per Bryan Weimer Arapahoe Manager of Capital Improvements. Stop with the false information. Get proper information before you use this forum as a means of accomplishing who knows what.

Before one stands on a soap box and condemns a citizen initiated petition, you as a Trustee of the Town should listen to your electorate and abide by their decision.

No one is condemning the trustees of this town. They are all good people doing the best job they can on a part time basis. That in and of itself does not constitute that the job they are doing is a good one for the citizens of a town. This area (we presently call Foxfield) has a mutiplicity of problems and ever growing concerns that a part time government can not handle.

>>IF the town ceases...<<

Well, isn't that what you are striving for?

>>IF the Farm...<<

I meant, AS the Farm and other communities continue to expand (2000 houses in the Farm and development between here and Liverpool)!

>>You are supposing that Arapahoe County wants to expand Richfield.<<

Yes - they are under pressure from residents and developers to improve traffic flow. Why do you think Buckley is four lane through the Farm? Without the existence of Foxfield, that is what would have happened to Richfield also.

>>It doesn't per Bryan Weimer...<<

Of course not - now that there is a town with our own plans!

>>Part time government...<<

You keep bringing up ''part-time'' as if the county devotes 8 hours a day toward the residents of Foxfield.

Look at the facts. There are 500,000 people in Arapahoe county (per the Arapahoe County fact sheet)- there are less that 1,000 in Foxfield. To give Foxfield residents the same attention as everyone else in the county, the county officials would have to devote 500 times as much effort as they do for the residents in the rest of the county. Putting it another way, that's less than 1 minute a day!!!

If each Foxfield trustee spent only one hour a day on town matters (they regularly spend much more), it would still dwarf the effort that the county can devote toward the residents of this town...

This isn't false information - I'm just pointing out facts that are there for everyone to see...
Re: Richfield

Actually, I believe Arapahoe County would love to widen Richfield, but at present, they cannot because they no longer have jurisdiction over the roads in Foxfield. Phil S. is getting an older copy of the plans for the area so we can show folks what the plans were prior to being changed by Foxfield.

The idea of narrowing the road right of way was discussed in town meetings a couple of years ago. Most of the right-of-way for our roads is 60 feet (not sure of the cul-de-sacs). The minimum county standard road is a 24 foot paved road in a 60 foot right-of-way, so that's where our standards came from.

I agree with you. I thought narrowing the right-of-way for our roads was a great idea for various reasons. Unfortunately, it was brought to our attention that this would also require a complete re-survey of all properties and getting everyone in town to have their individual legal descriptions redone. It's hard to get everyone to agree on something as important as water, let alone this. I think the idea died due to high cost and lack of interest. Lastly, I don't see why it would even be considered by the county, since our roads are already at the county minimum standards. The cost and effort required would probably be higher, since a change to their road standards would have to be initiated and completed first. And who knows how long that would take, since this area is of very little concern to the rest of the county. Plus, they are now singing the blues about financial shortcomings this year.
